Project Overview

Establishing Authority in an Emerging Category

Indigi engaged Medley to redesign their digital presence, refine their positioning, and create a cohesive suite of materials across web, pitch, and social.

The objective was to elevate Indigi from a promising platform into a clear category leader, one that could confidently sit at the intersection of culture, commerce, and design. The work needed to communicate both accessibility and authority, positioning Indigi as the trusted pathway for organisations seeking to engage with Indigenous visual language ethically and at scale.

The Challenge

Creating Trust in a Space Defined by Uncertainty

Indigi operates within a growing demand: organisations wanting to engage with First Nations culture in meaningful ways. But that demand is paired with hesitation, fear of misrepresentation, misuse, or getting it wrong.

At the same time, the broader market is saturated with inauthentic or decontextualised “Indigenous-style” assets—generic motifs, unclear licensing, and little connection to actual artists or communities. This creates a credibility gap.

The challenge was to position Indigi as the alternative:
→ a platform that is not only accessible, but trusted

This required more than visual refinement. The brand needed to clearly communicate:

  • that all work is artist-led and ethically licensed
  • that cultural integrity is protected throughout the process
  • and that businesses can engage with confidence, not uncertainty

At a product level, Indigi also spans multiple modes: downloadable assets, custom iconography, and collaborative design systems. Without clarity, this risks feeling complicated and too hard for customers to navigate.

The work needed to unify these elements into a clear, authoritative system, one that removes friction for organisations while reinforcing respect for the artists and culture behind the work.

The Strategy

Build Trust Into the System

The strategy was to position Indigi not just as a platform, but as infrastructure, something organisations can rely on when navigating cultural design.

We anchored the experience in clarity and confidence:

  • Clear articulation of what Indigi is (platform + bridge)
  • Transparent explanation of how licensing and collaboration works
  • Strong emphasis on artist ownership, attribution, and ethical process

The website was redesigned to lead with authority. Messaging moves quickly from what Indigi offers to why it matters,  removing ambiguity and reinforcing legitimacy. Visual hierarchy supports this, balancing warmth and accessibility with a more structured, confident & easy to navigate layout.

Across the system:

  • The homepage establishes category leadership (“first Indigenous-owned stock library”)
  • The offering is broken into distinct, understandable pathways (art, photo, video, custom)
  • Social content extends this narrative, educating while building familiarity and trust
  • The pitch deck translates the same system into a partner-facing narrative, supporting commercial growth and stakeholder buy-in

Importantly, the strategy avoids over-explaining culture. Instead, it creates a framework where culture is respected through process, structure, and attribution, allowing the work itself to carry meaning.

The result is a platform that reduces hesitation:
→ giving organisations a clear, credible way to engage with Indigenous design, without compromising integrity.
