Songlines
Digital
Project Overview
Songlines Digital engaged Medley to lead a redesign and repositioning from its former identity, Ten Four Media, into a practice grounded in First Nations engagement, cultural integrity, and digitally-led connection.
The objective was to create a digital presence that could support this shift, moving from a generalist service offering to one that clearly speaks to First Nations clients, collaborators, and organisations seeking to engage with the digital space in a way that is both commercially effective and culturally grounded.

The Challenge
For many First Nations organisations, entering or expanding within the digital space comes with layered complexity. It’s not just about adopting platforms or marketing tools, it’s about how culture is represented, shared, and protected within systems that weren’t built with that context in mind.
The work needed to acknowledge this tension.
Songlines Digital had to communicate digital capability in a way that felt accessible and relevant, while also holding cultural responsibility. It needed to support businesses in stepping into digital environments (web, ecommerce, campaigns, platforms) without disconnecting from the values, knowledge systems, and relationships that underpin their work.
At the same time, the repositioning needed to remain credible within a commercial landscape. The business had to signal that it could deliver at a professional standard, while clearly differentiating itself from mainstream agencies through its approach, not just its identity.

The Strategy
The strategy centred on reframing Songlines Digital as a bridge, one that supports First Nations clients and businesses in entering and navigating the digital world on their own terms.
Rather than presenting digital as something to “catch up” to, the brand positions it as an extension of existing knowledge systems, another environment where stories, relationships, and value can be expressed and carried forward.
We anchored the expression in the concept of “Songlines” as pathways of connection and knowledge, using this to structure both messaging and experience. This created a clear and culturally relevant metaphor for movement, navigation, and continuity across platforms.
From there, the system was designed to:
Language was kept grounded and directional, avoiding both tech-heavy jargon and over-explained cultural framing. The brand speaks with clarity and restraint, allowing clients to understand both the opportunity and the approach.
Across the website and social content, the same principle holds:
→ this is not about bringing culture into digital
→ it’s about supporting culture to move through it, intact
